SUMMARY:Ecocide: Environmental Destruction from the Holocaust to Today
DESCRIPTION:At this webinar\, Dr. Ellen Kennedy will examine the weaponiz
ation of environmental destruction during the Holocaust and in Syria\, U
kraine\, and Nagorno-Karabakh and steps for justice. Ecocide is the mass
damage and destruction of nature: severe\, widespread\, or long-term en
vironmental devastation caused by unlawful or wanton acts. It is a ‘forc
e multiplier’ of violence and often a precursor of genocide and mass atr
ocities. Ecocide is criminalized in countries and regions around the wor
ld\, penalizing individuals and organizations that cause it and establis
hing procedures to prevent it.\n\nMore info: https://www.keene.edu/news/
