SUMMARY:Brandy Clark Take Flight World Tour
DESCRIPTION:Thu. Mar. 18: BRANDY CLARK “Take Flight World Tour” -7:30pm-
 Tix: $59.50 ($75.80 through Ticketmaster\, $66.50 at the Birchmere Box O
ffice) Arriving on the heels of both winning her first Grammy Award (aft
er 17 nominations) and being named one of The New York Times’ 30 Greates
t Living Songwriters\, Brandy Clark returns with her highly anticipated
new album\, the bird (Reprise Records). Featuring eleven masterful songs
written with some of her closest collaborators (Shane McAnally\, Jessie
Jo Dillon\, Sean McConnell)\, the bird was produced by Grammy Award-win
ner Shooter Jennings and recorded at LA’s Sunset Sound Studio. Highlight
s include the first single\, “American Roots\,” written by Clark\, Micha
el Pollack (“Dear Insecurity\,” “Flowers”) and Griff Clawson\, and inspi
red by Woody Guthrie’s timeless folk anthem\, “This Land Is Your Land.”
Moved to write something that spoke to love of country and patriotism\,
the song has been viscerally received by audiences at concerts — eliciti
ng spontaneous mid-song standing ovations. The new album follows 2023’s
acclaimed self-titled album\, which was produced by Brandi Carlile and f
eatured the standout single\, “Dear Insecurity\,” which won Best America
na Performance at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards and Song of the Year at
the 2024 Americana Honors & Awards. Released to overwhelming praise\, Fo
rbes called the record “an Americana Masterpiece\,” while Variety procla
imed it\, “further clarifies that she’s one of America’s treasures.” Kno
wn for her powerful live performances\, Clark joined Reba McEntire and L
ukas Nelson for a performance of “Trailblazer (Dream Chaser Version)” at
the 68th Annual Grammy Awards earlier this year—a reimagined version of
  the original Grammy-nominated song “Trailblazer\,” which she co-wrote w
ith Lainey Wilson and Miranda Lambert. In addition to her work as a solo
  artist\, Clark has written “A Beautiful Noise\,” the Grammy-nominated d
uet performed by Carlile and Alicia Keys\, Kacey Musgraves’ “Follow Your
Arrow\,” and Miranda Lambert’s “Mama’s Broken Heart.” She also composed
the music for the hit musical comedy\, Shucked\, alongside McAnally. Fo
r the show\, Clark won Outstanding Music at the 67th Drama Desk Awards a
nd was nominated for Best Original Score at the 76th Tony Awards\, with
Shucked receiving nine Tony nominations overall. “Music Row pros par exc
ellence\, brilliant practitioners of the time-honored tradecraft: crisp
hooks\, witty wordplay\, brisk storytelling\, songs that click and whir
like little machines. They are also disrupters of tradition…whose work h
as jolted country\, pulling the genre in new directions stylistically\,
sonically\, even politically.” — The New York Times on Brandy Clark\, Sh
