 earch comes the incredible short film\, “How to Win a Nobel Prize.” We l
 ook forward to hosting film director\, Gary Jobson\, along with Hope Fun
 ds Foundation board member and beloved CLS member Greg Van Schaack\, for
  a screening and follow-up discussion about battling this disease\, the 
 deeper meaning behind the film and the motivation to produce this moving

 A Nobel Prize\,” directed by Gary Jobson. The short film\, sponsored by 
 Hope Funds for Cancer Research features interviews with Dr. James Alliso
 n\, awarded the 2018 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his work 
 in discovering how the body’s immune system can be harnessed to combat c
 ancer\; Dr. William Kaelin\, awarded the 2019 Nobel Prize in Physiology 
 or Medicine for his work in the discovery of how cells sense and adapt t
 o oxygen availability\; and Dr. Jennifer Doudna\, awarded the 2020 Nobel
  Prize in Chemistry for the development of a method for genome editing. 
 About Gary Jobson Gary Jobson has enjoyed a long career as a racing sail
 or\, author\, journalist\, and television producer and commentator. He w
 orked at ESPN for 31 years\, covering the America’s Cup and many other s
 ailing events. John has been presented with four Sports Emmy Awards for 
 his coverage of the Olympics on NBC and Peacock and the Volvo Ocean Race
  on PBS. Jobson is the author of 23 books on the sport of sailing and ha
 s a new book coming soon titled The Characters of the America’s Cup . As
  a racing sailor\, Jobson was named Intercollegiate Sailor of the Year t
 wo times and has won the America’s Cup as tactician for Ted Turner aboar
 d the 12 Meter yacht\, “Courageous.” In addition to his sailing\, Gary J
 obson has been an advocate for health care-related organizations\, envir
 onmental groups\, tourism boards\, and educational institutions. He has 
 served as President of the U.S. Sailing Association\, Vice President of 
 the International Sailing Federation (now World Sailing)\, he served as 
 Chair of Luminis Health\, a Maryland-based hospital\, Chair of the Chesa
 peake Bay Trust\, Chair of Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County\, and C
 hair of the Friends of St. John’s College. He has served on the Boards o
 f Hampton University and St. Mary’s College of Maryland. He is currently
  co-Chair of the Development Committee and is an Emeritus Board member o
 f the Hope Funds for Cancer Research. He is a graduate of the State Univ
 ersity of New York Maritime College\, did graduate studies at Long Islan
 d University in Political Science\, and was awarded a Doctor of Letters 
 by the State University of New York in 2005. Jobson has served as an off
 icer in the U.S. Naval Reserve and is a licensed U.S. Merchant Marine of
 ficer. Jobson has been inducted into the National Sailing Hall of Fame\,
  the America’s Cup Hall of Fame\, and the Intercollegiate Sailing Hall o
 f Fame. Jobson and his wife\, Janice\, live in Annapolis\, Maryland\, an
 d have three grown daughters and five grandchildren. About Greg Van Scha
 ack Mr. Van Schaack is a retired financial services executive who has li
 ved in Charleston since 2008. His experience includes working for Brown 
 Brothers\, Harriman & Co.\, United States Trust Company\, and PNC Bank. 
 In his business career\, he is most proud of his founding and start-up f
 unding of a service-disabled veteran owned broker/dealer whose mission i
 s to create jobs for veterans and disabled veterans. The company\, Acade
 my Securities\, is in New York and San Diego and has achieved significan
 t success in fixed income and equities underwriting. Since 2007\, Mr. Va
 n Schaack has been a trustee of the Hope Funds for Cancer Research\, a f
 oundation dedicated to advancing research for the most lethal and hard-t
 o-cure cancers. He has served on the Executive Committee for many years 
 and is currently chair of the Investment Committee and a member of the D
 evelopment and Significant Gifts Committees. The Hope Funds Foundation h
 as funded over fifty post-doctoral researchers at some of the most prest
 igious cancer research laboratories in the country. With an almost all-v
 olunteer staff and Board\, the Foundation can dedicate $0.96 of every do
 llar raised directly to the fellowships that fund the researchers. Mr. V
