SUMMARY:A Conversation with Charlotte Donlon & Hallie Waugh
DESCRIPTION:An evening in conversation with spiritual director and author
Charlotte Donlon and writer and poet Hallie Waugh. Charlotte's new book
Spiritual Direction for Writers is getting high acclaim: "Donlon explor
es how writing thrives in the unfinished. For anyone feeling destabilize
d in their life and creative practice\, this big-hearted\, down home boo
k offers rituals and companionship at any stage of the process. Featurin
 g five embodied currents 'Begin\,' 'Belong\,' 'Become\,' 'Behold\,' 'Bes
tow\,' this book works. It brought me back to the page after five years\
 , three babies\, and post-MFA burnout. I have many excuses\, and as a se
lf-proclaimed 'thriver in overwhelm\,' contemplation often feels like a
past time for me. And yet Donlon says\, 'Contemplation is not about empt
ying the mind but filling it with holy attention.' Writing is part of yo
ur soul\, it should feel that way." Pre-orders of the book help us prepa
 re for the evening.\n\nTickets: http://www.commonplacebooksokc.com/event
