allows you to create and format headings\, paragraphs\, blockquotes\, i
mages\, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format t
hem individually. Just double-click and easily create content. Static an
d dynamic content editing A rich text element can be used with static or
dynamic content. For static content\, just drop it into any page and be
gin editing. For dynamic content\, add a rich text field to any collecti
on and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings pa
nel. Voila! How to customize formatting for each rich text Headings\, pa
 ragraphs\, blockquotes\, figures\, images\, and figure captions can all
be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "Whe
n inside of" nested selector system. The sound of a countertenor—often d
escribed as ethereal and otherworldly—is both familiar and foreign. It i
s a high voice close to what we might expect from a female opera singer.
Though we recognize the range from contemporary pop music and cartoons\
, from Michael Jackson to Mickey Mouse\, experiencing its penetrating po
wer unamplified in an opera house can be surprising\, elemental\, and pr
ofoundly moving. In Countertenor\, Anthony Roth Costanzo\, one of the wo
rld’s leading opera singers\, takes us on a journey through his life\, h
is education in art\, and the history of his extraordinary voice type. C
ountertenors\, he tells us\, have helped define contemporary opera for m
ore than half a century\, having inherited a repertoire originally writt
en for castrated men in the baroque period. Part oddity\, part divinity\
, the castrati were surgically altered before puberty. They are key to u
nderstanding the development of opera as a form\, from its very origins
to its expansion in the public sphere. The striking beauty and sheer oth
erness of the high male voice provide fertile ground for creative invent
ion and innovation\, evocatively challenging conventional notions of gen
 der\, sexuality\, and identity. With wit\, humor\, and an irrepressible\
, irresistible energy\, Anthony Roth Costanzo offers fascinating insight
s into the contours of the countertenor and his own extraordinary artist
ic career as both an opera singer and a savvy producer and curator. The
result is a lively and stirring account of an art form in flux\, in cons
tant reinvention\, of the excitement of new\, boundary-pushing work\, an
d of the development and triumph of a remarkable\, uninhibited voice. Cl
ick here to purchase Anthony Roth Costanzo's book Countertenor (out Octo
ber 27 via Farrar Straus\, and Giroux)\, and his companion album of the
same name (out October 23 via Nonsuch Records). This performance is made
possible thanks to the generous support of Ann Ziff. This performance f
eatures mixed standing and seated room. If you require accessibility acc
ommodations\, please email boxoffice@nationalsawdust.org. ABOUT ANTHONY
