SUMMARY:Block Printing: DYI Wrapping Paper & Gift Tags
DESCRIPTION:Because it's a lovely time to get in the holiday spirit... Le
arn how to create your own sustainable wrapping paper and gift tags\, ju
st in time for the holiday season! Block Printing is one of the oldest s
tyles of printmaking\, used for thousands of years on paper and fabric a
like. During this workshop you will design & carve your very own "block"
for printing on Kraft paper and gift tags. You'll learn how to transfer
images\, design your own\, and gain an introduction to the different ki
nds of supplies and tools that can be used in this exciting process. Par
ticipants can expect to create & carve at least one unique block and lea
ve with original prints on various paper sheets & gift tags and take the
ir stamp home to use over and over! No previous experience necessary. Al
l materials provided but\, printing ink can get messy\, so I highly sugg
est bringing an apron! Space is very limited! Molly C. Meng studied lite
rature with a personal minor in collecting other people's lives. An obse
ssion with old ledgers\, vintage photos. and every single discarded book
that exists\, her work reimagines the untold stories behind the otherwi
se forgotten items of every day. A self-taught artist\, the medium of co
llage in both paper and textiles is Molly's dominant form of communicati
ng. She successfully weaves the elements of ephemera and storytelling in
to each piece she creates. The spectacular beauty of the ordinary is ele
vated with detail in her work. Molly's work has shown nationally in both
museums and galleries located in New York\, San Francisco\, Los Angeles
\, Wisconsin and Montana. She has produced large scale commissions for i
nterior designers\, personal homes and a number of Prometheus apartment
complexes in Northern California. Other than creating her own artwork\,
Molly helps adults and young people lean into their unique talent by tea
ching creative workshops around the U.S. as well as on an annual retreat
in the South of France. Molly C. Meng is currently living and working i
n Portsmouth\, New Hampshire. LIVE MUSIC POETRY & FICTION WORKSHOPS WILD
