SUMMARY:MARY PRESCOTT
DESCRIPTION:$35 General\, $20 Student General Admission - Standing plus s
eating available *Ticketing via UMass FAC Box Office https://mary-presco
tt.com/ Presented as part of the Fine Arts Center’s Asian and Asian Amer
ican Arts and Culture and Reimagine Residencies programs. Mary Prescott
is a Thai American interdisciplinary artist\, composer\, and pianist who
explores identity and social conditions through experiential performanc
 e. Prescott’s 2026 work\, Ancestral Table\, examined the relationships b
etween ecology\, migration\, cultural inheritance\, and maternal legacy
through performance paired with a shared meal prepared with family recip
es that were passed down from Prescott’s mother. In 2024’s Sunder: Studi
es in Grief and Ease\, Prescott intertwined film\, movement\, text\, sou
nd\, and installation to guide audiences through a deep personal meditat
ion on grief. During a residency with the Fine Arts Center\, Prescott wi
ll develop a new work that she believes will likely take the form of an
 evening-length interdisciplinary performance involving music\, movement\
, text\, video\, and installation. Prescott’s new piece will examine the
ways in which environments shape culture\, ritual\, and belief systems\
, and imagine how our contemporary environments and technologies may inf
luence societies and beliefs in the future. We hope you’ll join us as pa
rt of the first audience anywhere to encounter this exciting new creatio
n by a visionary artist. The Washington Post has described Prescott’s wo
rk as “a bright light cast forward\,” calling it “uncompromising” and “m
 asterfully envisioned.” Contact Us: contact@thedrakeamherst.org #: 413-3
