SUMMARY:Sue Foley GA-20
DESCRIPTION:Sue Foley is a multi-award-winning blues guitarist\, singer\,
and songwriter whose latest album\, One Guitar Woman: A Tribute to the
Female Pioneers of Guitar\, was nominated for the 2025 GRAMMY® Award for
Best Traditional Blues Album. Known for her fiery playing and soulful v
oice\, Foley blends Texas blues grit with refined fingerstyle technique\
, whether on her signature pink paisley Fender Telecaster or a hand-buil
t flamenco guitar. Born in Ottawa\, Canada\, Foley began performing prof
essionally at 16 and made her mark in Austin\, Texas\, with the legendar
 y Antone’s label. Since her 1992 debut Young Girl Blues\, she’s toured i
 nternationally\, sharing stages with B.B. King\, Buddy Guy\, and Billy F
Gibbons. Foley is a five-time consecutive Blues Music Award winner for
Traditional Blues Female Artist (2020–2025) and a recipient of multiple
other honors\, including a JUNO Award and the 2024 Maple Blues Lifetime
Achievement Award. A passionate scholar as well as a performer\, Foley h
olds a PhD in Musicology and will release her first book\, Guitar Women\
, in 2026. As the Philadelphia Inquirer wrote\, “Foley has a killer voic
e\, an impossibly alluring blend of sex and innocence to go with those b
lazing guitar chops.” With One Guitar Woman\, she reclaims history and r
edefines what a guitar hero can be. Since 2018\, GA-20 has been at the f
orefront of a traditional Blues revival. The dynamic throwback trio have
long been disciples of the place where traditional Blues\, Country and
Rock ‘n’ Roll intersect. “We make records that we would want to listen t
o\,” says guitarist Matt Stubbs. “It’s our take on the song-based tradit
ional electric Blues we love.” Stubbs\, along with guitarist & vocalist
Cody Nilsen and drummer Josh Kiggans\, strive to bring traditional Blues
to the front lines of the modern roots music scene. “The focus for us h
as always been on the story\, the melody\, and on creating a mood\,” Stu
bbs continues. “Traditional Country and Soul have all had these massive
recent revivals. We want to be part of doing that for traditional Blues
music.” GA-20 has drawn inspiration for their old-school sounds from the
music they love by artists such as Otis Rush\, J.B. Lenoir\, Howlin’ Wo
lf\, Junior Wells\, Hound Dog Taylor\, Earl Hooker\, Johnny ‘Guitar’ Wat
son and so many others. Performing with what feels like reckless abandon
\, GA-20 brings a timeless immediacy to every song they play with a soun
d that continues to grow and evolve. The band uses vintage instruments a
nd amps to produce their authentic sound\, and favours traditional recor
ding techniques\, like recording live off the floor together in one room
\, to help recreate that energy and sonic connection. In their short his
 tory\, GA-20 have been 3x #1 Billboard Blues chart toppers\, 4x Boston M
usic Award winners for Best Blues Act\, and have received multiple wins
and nominations at the Blues Music Awards\, Blues Blast Awards\, New Eng
land Blues Awards\, and have ascended streaming and radio charts at home
and internationally. Medium.com has appropriately declared\, “This is t
he kind of music that travels through time while taking from the era whe
re it was born and turning it into something fresh. Dirty and raw…timele
ss and modern.” Early access to ticket sales\, discounts & more. Join No
