DESCRIPTION:7pm\, Music 7:30pm Sliding Scale $15-35 Join us for a night o
f music and a group singalong with the Brooklyn Nomads! The Brooklyn Nom
ads play songs from the Palestinian diaspora and will interpret music fr
om "Songs of the Fedayeen\," a 1970 songbook created by a Palestinian So
lidarity group to support guerrilla fighters in Palestine following the
1967 war. The songs blend traditional Arabic instrumentation with a West
ern military inflection. Guerrilla radio stations played these songs in
refugee camps and in Cairo in the late 1960s and 70s. The Nomads will in
terpret the songs\, we'll have a conversation about the revolutionary mo
ment post-1968\, and then finish the evening with music celebrating Pale
stinian struggle and resistance since the 1970s\, including modern diasp
oric music. This show is in collaboration with Interference Archive's ex
