SUMMARY:PIANIST BENNY GREEN
DESCRIPTION:Benny Green: Solo PIano The art of constructing a solo record
ing is the ultimate challenge for most musicians. Pianist Benny Green be
lieves that the challenge provides the ultimate inspiration\, as he is f
ree to take the music in whatever direction he chooses. For his first so
lo recording in twenty years\, simply named Solo\, Green finds himself r
eflecting on pieces by pianists who have inspired him over the decades.
Over his career\, Green has solidified himself as one of jazz music’s pr
emier piano stylists. His command of the bebop\, post-bop\, and swing st
yles was harnessed and cemented through years of study and apprenticeshi
p alongside the music’s best\, including jazz masters Walter Bishop\, Jr
.\, Oscar Peterson\, and Art Blakey\, with whom he played as a member of
the legendary Jazz Messengers. “When you say he’s got it all\, you’ve s
aid it all. That is the most concise summation of the genius of pianist
Benny Green.” – Leonard Feather for the Los Angeles Times If you have an
