 SORI MEETS THE TALKING HEADS Their line-up is as singular as their sound
  – featuring two bassists\, drums\, keys\, no guitar\, and four singers.
  The band’s creator and visionary\, bassist Young-Gyu Jang\, is also beh
 ind several beloved horror soundtracks (e.g. The Wailing\, Train to Busa
 n)\, and the now-disbanded iconic art band SsingSsing\, which Tiny Desk'
 s Bob Boilen described as "one of my most memorable Tiny Desk Concerts o
 f all time." Leenalchi's (EEE-nal-chi) songs are based on pansori\, a tr
 aditional style of shamanic storytelling that's been around since the 17
 th century Joseon Dynasty and is sometimes compared to opera. The band's
  unique rhythm-forward configuration is a reflection of pansori's typica
 l phrasing — just singing and percussion. The Seoul psych-pop unit chann
 els this structure and explodes it into the club\; a dance experience th
 at sounds like animals talking to each other over tripped out bass lines

 s formed by Young-Gyu Jang 장영규\, an award-winning Korean composer who is
  especially well known for his film scores of some of Korea's most celeb
 rated horror films: Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002)\, The Wailing (201
 6)\, and Train to Busan (2016). As a special bonus to LEENALCHI's 10/31
