SUMMARY:Mike Randall's Charles Dickens Presents: A Christmas Carol
DESCRIPTION:In Charles Dickens Presents: A Christmas Carol Mike Randall r
ecreates the most famous and best loved holiday. The actor performs the
classic story from memory and acts out all the characters just as Dicken
s did for audiences in the U.K. and right here in America in the mid-180
0's. Mike Randall’s production of Charles Dickens Presents: A Christmas
Carol has been a huge success since it’s premiere in 2007. Giving more t
han 200 performances across Western New York in the last eighteen holida
y seasons\, and premiering at MusicalFare Theatre\, audiences and critic
s agreed that it was great to have Mr. Dickens back in Western New York!
A lover of Buffalo history and presenter of one person shows\, when Mik
e Randall discovered that Charles Dickens performed in Buffalo in 1868\,
he decided to recreate Mr. Dickens presentation of his most well known
story "A Christmas Carol". What Randall finds most intriguing about Dick
ens and his Readings is the way the author threw himself into the perfor
mances not just reading the words but becoming the characters on stage.
At one time Charles Dickens had almost become a professional actor. Even
when he pursued writing instead\, he continued to produce and perform i
n "amateur theatricals". His close actor friends claimed repeatedly that
Dickens could easily have made a successful career on the stage. The Di
ckens Readings were not only a outlet for this amateur actor\, but they
became an absorbing\, entertaining Tour de Force\, a blending of author/
actor creating wonderful magic on stage. Mike Randall has performed a va
riety of roles in theatres around the country and he continues to perfor
m his critically acclaimed\, one-man portrayal of Mark Twain Live! Mike
also spent time as the Marvelous Magical Burger King where he perfected
his abilities as a magician & live family entertainer. Mike Randall is a
lso a member of the Puppeteers Of America. Mike Randall may be best know
n for his forty year (1983-2023) career locally on WKBW-TV as an award w
inning feature reporter and Chief Meteorologist. He was inducted into th
e Buffalo Broadcasters Hall of Fame in September 2017. Mike is also an a
ward winning playwright\, and has had several of his 10 minute plays per
formed locally at the Alleyway Theatre\, Springville Arts Center as well
as other theatres around the country. Two of his plays: Kill The Weathe
rman and Guns & Roses won awards at Alleyway Theatre. Buffalo News: “Mik
 e Randall — a talented actor and magnetic stage presence….when Randall l
oses himself in one of those Dickensian bouts of rich description\, he’s
at the top of his game….Randall’s close adherence to historical documen
ts relating to Dickens’ performance means that he presents us with the a
uthor stripped down to his essence. The man\, his words and no more\, Ra
ndall seems to be saying\, are all that is required to enjoy “A Christma
 s Carol.” And he’s absolutely right."\n\nTickets: https://www.thecazbuff
