DESCRIPTION:Buy Tickets! Buy a Series Subscription!* (10% Discount) *Buy
a subscription with tickets to all four of the Ellen Rowe’s All About th
e Trio concerts or add Ellen Rowe’s Annual Mother’s Day concert for all
5 concerts\, and get 10% off the total cost! Ellen Rowe opens the 26-27
season of All About the Trio with a tribute to one of jazz’s richest sou
rce books: Hollywood. While many beloved “standards” came from Broadway
or Tin Pan Alley\, film composers were also writing wonderful melodies t
hat jazz musicians adapted for their own use. This concert traces how th
ose themes crossed over from the screen to the bandstand. Rowe leads lon
gtime collaborators Paul Keller on bass and Pete Siers on drums through
music by Henry Mancini (Moon River\, Days of Wine and Roses)\, Johnny Ma
ndel (The Shadow of Your Smile\, Emily)\, Jerome Kern (The Way You Look
Tonight\, Long Ago and Far Away)\, and David Raksin (Laura)\, among othe
rs — composers who moved fluidly between film scoring and the jazz world
\, writing themes so strong they outlived the movies themselves. As alwa
ys\, Rowe pairs the performance with her trademark commentary and contex
t\, exploring what makes these melodies endure. Kerrytown Concert House
is honored to continue Ellen Rowe’s long-running and much-loved series\,
All About the Trio. Rowe — an acclaimed jazz pianist\, composer\, and e
ducator — combines her two passions here\, leading a jazz piano trio thr
ough concerts that spotlight an iconic jazz figure or style within the g
enre. Her easygoing commentary\, paired with demonstrations from trio me
mbers and guest musicians\, makes each show as illuminating as it is enj
oyable. Join us for Rowe’s informative\, inspiring jazz presentations th
roughout KCH’s 26-27 season. Ellen Rowe\, piano Paul Keller\, bass Pete
