SUMMARY:Close to You: The Music of the Carpenters
DESCRIPTION:Lisa Rock has been performing to sold-out crowds for years. S
he’s written more than 25 original concerts and cabarets that have been
seen across the country\, including Close to You: The Music of the Carpe
nters and A Carpenters’ Christmas. Now\, she has arranged a 6-piece band
and together they are dedicated to creating a Carpenters’ experience li
ke no other. Rock’s amazing four octave range allows her to sing the hit
s like “We’ve Only Just Begun” and “Close to You” in their original key\
, keeping the songs genuine and more recognizable for the audience. “Whe
n she hits the lower range of her marvelous voice\,” notes critic Alan B
resloff\, “if you close your eyes\, you can see Karen Carpenter’s face.”
Since starting the Close to You show in 2010\, the band has been seen b
y over 250\,000 people in 42 states and they have played over 450 shows
 together.\n\nTickets: https://www.desmoinesperformingarts.org/whats-on/s
