SUMMARY:ARTiculate Playreading Series: Continuity by Bess Wohl
DESCRIPTION:ARTiculate Playreading Series: Continuity by Bess Wohl with t
 heatre KAPOW Sunday\, November 8 1:30pm Performance 2pm Conversation + G
allery tour 3:40pm Seated Pay-what-you-choose (starting at $15) ---- Hea
r the play\, see the art\, talk about it. Hear new or rarely produced pl
ays by contemporary playwrights that relate to the current exhibitions a
t 3S Artspace. After the playreading\, stay for a facilitated conversati
on which includes a guided tour of the work on view in the Gallery. “The
ARTiculate Playreading Series provides an amazing opportunity to take a
deep dive into the text of a play. With all the production elements (co
stumes\, sets\, lighting\, etc) stripped away\, the words and our imagin
ations become the focus and the virtuosity of the actors takes center st
age.” - Audience member About the play\, Continuity: Bess Wohl’s startli
ngly funny new play examines what is worth saving and what isn’t—especia
lly when we’re facing the end of the world. A sheet of ice sits in the d
esert of New Mexico. A mad eco-terrorist plants a bomb in order to save
humankind. A beleaguered film crew tries to get in one last shot before
losing the light. In C ontinuity\, storytelling and science collide with
hilarious and devastating consequences. The play asks\, “How do we keep
going when hope can seem as fictional as a Hollywood ending?” and also\
, “What’s for lunch?” ---- Gallery exhibits overview: The three exhibits
that will share the Gallery space are a dialogue on how we act\, how we
endure\, and how our choices ripple through ourselves\, others\, and th
e planet. Visitors will move from intimate observation to bold visual na
rratives to luminous\, contemplative installations\, experiencing a rich
spectrum of human stories. 74 Days/ works by Vesna Jovanovic New Afterm
aths/ works by Kenneth Millington Light\, Shadow\, and Memory: Humans\,
War\, and Nature/ works by Chenlin Cai Kennth Millington's artwork is fe
