SUMMARY:The Sunset Limited by Cormac McCarthy
DESCRIPTION:A man brings a failed suicide victim from a subway platform t
o his Harlem apartment\, “and the world is set before us with fever-drea
m clarity.” The atheist and the saved Christian. The professor and the l
aborer. The rescuer and the one who did not wish to be rescued. Cormac M
cCarthy chose to name them Black and White\, as indeed they are. Prepari
ng to present 2006's SUNSET LIMITED twenty years later\, the racial dyna
mics seemed simplistic and in need of subversion. After all\, a show tha
t presents universal debates and philosophical arguments is more gray th
an anything. Same words\, same characters\, more nuance\, more gray.\n\n
