SUMMARY:The Funny One
DESCRIPTION:Second Life Supply brings creative reuse to the greater Charl
eston area. We divert unwanted materials and equipment from landfills in
order to provide supplies at low cost to our local communities. Through
our events and educational outreach\, we offer hands-on opportunities s
o everyone can experience the joy of creative reuse in an inclusive\, sa
fe space. For “The Funny One”\, as well as our previous and future Secon
d Life Art Shows\, the accepted artists get together for a supply swap.
Around 5 months before each show\, each of the artists are asked to brin
g a bag or box full of gently-used or unwanted art supplies to the gathe
ring. They take part in a “White Elephant” style swap. Whatever supplies
the artists end up with\, they must use in their piece(s) for the show!
This not only brings the artists out of their comfort zone\, but also s
hows collectors that art can be made from anything. Sustainability is co
ol! Second Life Supply is a registered 501 (c)(3). We are currently acce
pting donations in the form of arts/crafts supplies\, as well as monetar
y donations. Our goal is to bring a creative reuse storefront to the Cha
rleston area within a couple years. Please follow us on our socials to f
ind out where we will be popping up until then. Thank you for your suppo
