SUMMARY:Suitcase Junket “To Go On” Release w/Julia Read
DESCRIPTION:Suitcase Junket "To Go On" Release w/Special Guest Bandmates
Kris Delmhorst\, Ciarra Fragale\, Julia Read & Louisa Stancioff. Julia R
 ead opens $25 adv/ $30 door 7 “A living\, breathing\, throat-singing\, r
 oad-tested\, avant-garde\, one-man-band who is in a state of perpetual m
 otion… gutsy\, fuzzed-out\, groove-laden psych rock.” – NPR “Bluesy guit
ar riffs\, tenacious melodies and a singing voice both weathered and nim
ble. You don’t need to witness his physics-defying performance to be cap
tivated\; the music stands on its own… astonishing.” – WBUR Boston The S
uitcase Junket — the intriguing songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Matt Lo
renz — weds the sensibilities of early blues and rock ‘n’ roll\, the imp
rovisational spirit of jazz\, and his love of Tom Waits to meticulous\,
cultured songcraft. Dubbed a “master of musical imagination” by NPR’s Wo
rld Café Live and “astonishing” by WBUR Boston\, Lorenz’s weathered\, ho
wl-flecked voice was described by Rochester City Newspaper as “a cross b
etween Hound Dog Taylor and a Tuvan throat singer who has swallowed a bi
rd.” Lorenz has earned snowballing acclaim for his achingly poetic dark
folk. A solitary artist with an organic yet ornate vision\, his seventh
album To Go On is his most acutely profound yet. Created in the wake of
 losing his sister\, singer-songwriter Kate Lorenz\, it’s a tender\, beau
tiful\, and arrestingly moving record\; an internal dialogue and convers
ation with the departed\, enormously resonant to anyone who ever loved a
nyone. Suitcase Junket Julia Read is a songwriter and musician living in
Western Mass. Read’s original music ranges from haunting to theatrical
to self-parodic. Her voice moves river-like through landscapes of the mu
 ndane and mystical\, seeking range\, surprise\, and alchemy. Read is a c
lassically trained violinist and has toured internationally and played o
n studio recordings with various musicians. Read is also a performer\, w
ith a background in clowning and improv\, and is a founding member of th
e theatre collective The Royal Frog Ballet. She loves to sing with other
s\, especially Georgian music\, and currently performs with Doozy Jane\,
a quartet rooted in traditions of American harmony singing and swingy s
tring bands. Read has recorded three solo albums (self-released) and her
new album will be released in 2027. She works as a speech and language
 pathologist with adults.. $25 adv/ $30 door 7 “A living\, breathing\, th
