SUMMARY:Alash: Tuvan Throat Singers
DESCRIPTION:Experience Alash’s mesmerizing Tuvan throat singing and tradi
tional instruments\, celebrating the rich musical heritage of Tuva. Door
s at 7:00pm. Show at 8:00pm. Join us before the show! Our restaurant & l
ounge opens at 4:00pm with food\, cocktails\, and more. ALASH are master
s of Tuvan throat singing (xöömei)\, a remarkable technique for singing
multiple pitches at the same time. What distinguishes this group from ea
rlier generations of Tuvan throat singers is the subtle infusion of mode
rn influences into their traditional music. One can find complex harmoni
es\, western instruments\, and contemporary song forms in Alash’s music\
, but its overall sound and spirit remain decidedly Tuvan. Trained in tr
aditional Tuvan music since childhood\, the Alash musicians studied at K
yzyl Arts College just as Tuva was beginning to open up to the West. The
y formed a traditional ensemble and won multiple awards for traditional
throat singing in international xöömei competitions\, both as an ensembl
e and as individuals. At the same time\, they paid close attention to ne
w trends coming out of the West. They have borrowed newideas that mesh w
ell with the sound and feel of traditional Tuvan music\, but they have n
ever sacrificed the integrity of their own heritage in an effort to make
their music more hip. All guests under the age of 18 must be accompanie
d by a parent or legal guardian and supervised at all times while inside
the building. Failure to provide proper supervision may result in remov
al from the premises. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maint
ain a safe and enjoyable environment for all guests. 🎟️ Note: $1 from e
