SUMMARY:Volunteer Opportunity at St. Francis Inn – October
DESCRIPTION:Join the Office of Mission and Ministry for community service
  opportunities throughout the academic year. Service is coming face-to-f
 ace with the needs and humanity of another. To be of service is to look 
 the other in the eye\, start a conversation\, and recognize that our mut
 uality is greater than independence. We make meaning when we contribute 
 our time\, energy\, and gifts to benefit the lives of others. St. Franci
 s Inn’s Mission Statement reads: We are a Franciscan\, Eucharistic commu
 nity called to minister with the poor and homeless of Philadelphia. Form
 ed in the spirit of the Gospel and inspired by the life and compassion o
 f Francis and Clare of Assisi\, we try to meet the immediate daily needs
  of the people we serve with food\, clothing\, and hospitality. Furtherm
 ore\, we empower persons to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty 
 and address structural injustices. We seek to build relationships with t
 hose whom we serve by respecting their human dignity\, by helping them t
 o restore hope in their lives\, and by living simply among them. Service
  at St. Francis Inn includes serving meals to individuals and their fami
 lies and assisting in cleaning up. There are three opportunities this se
