SUMMARY:Gregg Allman: The Music of My Soul (Documentary)
DESCRIPTION:“A timeless portrait of one of our greatest bands ever – The
Allman Brothers Band. Centered around a rare and intimate interview with
Gregg Allman\, “The Music of My Soul” tells the whole story of survival
 \, loyalty\, love\, loss\, family\, genius\, perseverance and the one of
the wildest rides in rock history.” – Cameron Crowe This visionary musi
c documentary traces the turbulent\, transcendent life of Gregg Allman —
from a childhood ruptured by his father’s murder to the soulful emergen
ce that reshaped American music. Through archival recordings\, candid in
terviews\, and electric performances\, the film follows Gregg’s musical
awakening amid the blues he worshipped\, the creation of the Allman Brot
hers Band with his brother\, Duane\, that would birth Southern Rock\, an
d the grief that followed Duane’s fatal motorcycle crash. The Music of M
y Soul explores Gregg’s lifelong battle with addiction\, his seven marri
ages (including his high-profile union with Cher)\, and the late-life so
briety that allowed him to reckon with his past. The film examines not j
ust the artist’s private wounds but the wider American psyche — race\, l
 oss\, longing\, and reinvention — during Gregg’s lifetime. Musicians\, f
riends\, and family illuminate how an integrated band in the segregated
South challenged boundaries while forging a sound that was both raw and
redemptive. Anchored by Gregg’s gritty\, emotive vocals\, the Band’s bro
 therhood\, and never-before-seen interviews\, the documentary offers a p
rofound portrait of Gregg Allman: a luminous figure whose life and songs
mirror his struggles and salvation. This event will also featured a Q&A
discussion with the film’s director James Keach – moderated by Lance St
 erling. October 25\, 2026 6pm. Film 8:00pm $18 + applicable fees If you
