SUMMARY:An Afternoon with Rachel Levitin
DESCRIPTION:Imagine this - it’s Sunday afternoon and there’s nowhere you
have to be. All that’s left is to sit back\, relax\, and decompress\; le
aving the heaviness of the modern world behind. Instead\, you opt for a
brief retreat to a sweet\, experiential solace that is the matinee showi
ng of a revered life-long artist’s latest creative connection with her a
udience. Join this interactive\, conversational\, live music concert cur
ated and performed by singer-songwriter and executive producer Rachel Le
vitin. Hosted and guided by award-winning vocalist Jarreau Williams. “An
Afternoon with Rachel Levitin” is a milestone event celebrating a wide
variety of Rachel’s accomplishments such as: 30 years as a student of mu
sic\, 27 as a songwriter\, 21 since the release of her debut album “Come
As You Are\,” 20 living in the District of Columbia\, 10 since the rele
ase of her unanimous fan-favorite “Get Back Up\,” and 6 since production
began on her 2024 album “Witty Banter\,” all culminating to the world p
 remiere of Rachel’s newest song\, “Eulogy\,” written\, recorded\, and pe
rformed in loving memory of her late grandfather\, the beloved Edwin H.
Levitin\, who passed away in February 2026. Growing up in the city of Ch
 icago\, she didn't initially aspire to be a pop-rock recording artist\,
but an eclectic love of jazz\, early aughts radio hits\, and expressive
ambition led Rachel Levitin to pick up her first guitar as a tween. As t
he ordinary and extraordinary traumas of early adulthood crashed down\,
Levitin channeled her grief\, optimism\, and growth into her lyrics. A m
ove to DC in 2005 introduced her to the Washington-area music scene\, wh
ere she quickly established a reputation for herself as a confident perf
ormer and a stalwart supporter of her peers. Her debut EP\, "Nearly Brok
en" was released in 2015 and was followed by a string of singles\, inclu
ding 2021's "Off My Mind"\, which showcased Levitin's ability to write a
n unforgettable hook. In an age when wispy cynicism is en vogue\, Leviti
n's earnest\, raw lyricism sets her apart from the crowd. Her music comb
ines the endorphin rushes of early aughts hits with the emotional vulner
ability of a healed woman. As the pandemic brought live music to a grind
ing halt in 2020\, Levitin channeled her creative energies into music pr
oduction and began shining a light on gender inequity in the music indus
try. Together with a team of talented DC creatives\, she self-produced h
 er debut LP\, released on her 37th birthday\, 3/21/2024. “I would descri
be [Levitin] as: If Brandi and Belinda Carlisle had a baby\, and that ba
by was raised by the Mickey Mouse Club.” - Annie Stokes\n\nMore info: ht
