SUMMARY:STEPHANE WREMBEL: DJANGO L'IMPRESSIONNISTE
DESCRIPTION:Stéphane Wrembel: Django l'Impressionniste 8pm set. For the 6
pm set\, click here. Stephane Wrembel's acclaimed album\, Django l'Impre
ssionniste\, is a transcription of the master's solo improvisations\, wh
ich Wrembel essentially treats as a book of classical preludes. This is
a rare opportunity to hear Stephane play these solo pieces in their enti
rety. Stéphane Wrembel is probably the foremost interpreter of Django Re
inhardt’s music in North America. Whether sticking to the French master’
s arrangements or taking the music into new territory\, Wrembel has alwa
ys treated Django like a serious composer rather the cliché paragon of s
wing and speed he has too often been portrayed as. Stéphane penned the t
heme song to Woody Allen's "Midnight in Paris" and scored Allen's latest
film\, Rifkin’s Festival. He has performed live for the 2012 Academy Aw
ards\, has headlined at Carnegie Hall\, Town Hall and the the Lyon Opera
House and has been called “a revelation” by Rolling Stone magazine. Sté
phane has has released 6 albums under the moniker " The Django Experimen
t " and produces a yearly festival\, Django a go go. Stephane Wrembel ha
s played (almost) every Sunday at Barbès for the past 22 years. $50. Res
erve online now or in person that night - S pace is limited and while a
 reservations guarantees you entry\, it doesn't guarantee a seat.\n\nMore
