SUMMARY:PATTY LARKIN & LUCY KAPLANSKY
DESCRIPTION:Patty Larkin PATTY LARKIN is a visionary of sound and wonder\
, a real deal version of artistry made of equal parts guitar wizardry\,
vocals shot through with soul and inventive lyrics that ripple across th
e terrain of the heart. Described as “riveting” (Chicago Tribune)\, “hyp
 notic” (Entertainment Weekly)\, and a “drop-dead brilliant” performer (P
erforming Songwriter)\, Patty has captured audiences for over 30 years w
ith an imagination\, enchantment\, and technical artistry that has redef
ined the boundaries of the guitar driven singer songwriter. With eleven
studio albums and two live recordings under her belt\, Patty mines the i
ntersections of poetry and song with her innovative 14th release\, Bird
in a Cage\, released on her own Road Narrows Records. Bird in a Cage put
s poems from ten notable poets to song\, including US Poet Laureates Wil
liam Carlos Williams\, Stanley Kunitz\, Kay Ryan\, Robert Pinsky and Bil
ly Collins\, for a new and haunting collection that pulses with the magi
c of lyricism. Poems are made to be shared aloud\, and with Bird\, Patty
takes up that tradition and sets it aglow: her extraordinary musical sh
adings make each poem a star. Lucy Kaplansky Lucy Kaplansky is an acclai
med singer songwriter of rare talent\, “a truly gifted performer with a
bag full of enchanting songs” (The New Yorker) and “the troubadour laure
ate of modern city folk” (The Boston Globe). She has released nine criti
cally acclaimed CDs\, two of which were awarded Best Pop Album of the ye
ar by the Association for Independent Music. National Public Radio descr
ibed her 2012 album Reunion as “a master class in making the personal un
iversal\,” and National Public Radio’s Scott Simon called her new album
Last Days of Summer\, released in June 2022\, “Absolutely wonderful….utt
erly beautiful and affecting… Lucy sings songs from her life with resona
nce in ours.” Lucy was part of folk supergroup Cry Cry Cry with Dar Will
iams and Richard Shindell (which The New Yorker dubbed “a collection of
lovely harmonizing and pure emotion”). Their album was an astonishing su
ccess in stores and on radio resulting in a national tour of sold-out co
ncerts\, as well as a national sold-out reunion tour in 2018. Her record
ing of Roxy Music’s “More than This” has over 12 million streams on Spot
ify\, and she has been featured on NPR’s All Things Considered\, Weekend
Edition\, and Morning Edition as well as BBC Radio 2 and 4\, and CBS Su
nday Morning\, and has sung harmony on albums by Suzanne Vega\, Bryan Fe
rry\, Nanci Griffith and Shawn Colvin. Her song “Guilty as Sin” was feat
ured in the NBC television show “Ed\,” and her vocals were featured in t
he Tom Cruise film “The Firm.”\n\nTickets: https://www.etix.com/ticket/p
