DESCRIPTION:HEALTH & SAFETY: WE ASK THAT YOU PLEASE WEAR A FACE MASK WHIL
E INDOORS FOR OUR EVENTS. THANK YOU. Who doesn’t dream of having Rick St
eves’ life? Traveling throughout the world for a living\, cranking out b
est-selling guidebooks\, and hosting one of the most enduring shows on P
BS? Irresistible. His appeal crosses generations\, demographics\, politi
cs\, and those who favor wine over beer. So how did Steves catch that tr
avel bug? In his new book\, On the Hippie Trail\, Istanbul to Katmandu:
The Making of a Travel Writer\, he tells us of this transformative journ
ey. Forty five years later\, he reflects on that trip\, including advent
ures only a guy like Steves could get away with– in Tehran\, Afghanistan
\, Pakistan\, India\, and Nepal. Steves will not only discuss The Hippie
Trail\, but will discuss the concept of travel as a political act\, abo
ut the need to get out of our comfort zones and talk to people who live
where we travel. Only then can we develop empathy and return home with a
broadened cultural and social perspective. Moderator to be announced.\n
