SUMMARY:Go Geometric
DESCRIPTION:Members of the Lincoln Modern Quilt Group accepted the challe
nge to use a simple geometric shape in creating a modern quilt based on
the Modern Quilt Guild design element definitions. (see below) Each memb
er was assigned a triangle\, circle or rectangle. Using that as their fe
ature shape they created a quilt using solid fabrics. Key Design Element
s • Expansive Negative Space: Large\, open background areas let the main
pieced design breathe and showcase intricate quilting. • Bold Colors an
d Prints: Bright\, saturated solid colors and high-contrast graphic pale
ttes replace muted or dusty traditional tones. • Alternate Gridwork: Blo
cks break away from standard\, predictable rows and columns to create as
ymmetrical\, offset layouts. • Improvisational Piecing: Free-form cuttin
g and sewing without strict rules create organic\, spontaneous movement.
  • Minimalism and Simplicity: Designs use fewer\, larger geometric shape
s and uncluttered compositions. • Asymmetry: Focal points sit off-center
or vary greatly from side to side. • Modern Traditionalism: Classic\, v
intage quilt blocks are updated with fresh scales\, colorways\, or alter
 ed layouts.\n\nMore info: https://www.luxcenter.org/exhibitions/go-geome
