SUMMARY:Music Appreciation Series: Trevor Stephenson\, Baroque Organ
DESCRIPTION:Trevor Stephenson\, Artistic Director of Madison Bach Musicia
ns\, will bring a Baroque Chamber Organ. Dr. Stephenson will play and di
 scuss music by Fresbobaldi\, Bach\, Handel\, Scarlatti\, and Gabrieli. I
n June 2024\, Madison Bach Musicians acquired a newly built Baroque cham
ber organ made by the Klop company of The Netherlands. This magnificent
instrument was a gift to MBM from Ronald and Frieda Bourne\, in memory o
 f their son\, David S. Bourne. The organ has a 4½-octave range—C-f ’’’—w
ith three ranks of wooden pipes: 8’ Gedeckt\, 8’ Principal\, and 4’ Rohr
flöte. It also has a keyboard shift transposition feature allowing perfo
rmance at four different pitch levels: A=392\, 415\, 440\, and 465 Hz. T
he organ’s tracker action facilitates a crisp\, speech-like beginning to
each sound\, and the ensuing singing\, sustained tone is warm and clear
. This organ is ideally suited for intimate solos and continuo ensemble
performance. Madison Bach Musicians is overjoyed that the Klop is part o
f our musical family. general admission - free will donation\n\nMore inf
