SUMMARY:Ellen Rowe’s All About the Trio: Holiday Spectacular
DESCRIPTION:Ellen Rowe’s All About the Trio rings in the season with gues
t vibraphonist Cary Kocher for an afternoon of holiday favorites reimagi
ned through a jazz lens. The trio and special guest will take familiar s
easonal melodies and open them up — swinging\, reharmonizing\, and impro
vising on the songs of the season the way jazz musicians have done since
the genre first got its hands on Christmas music. Expect warmth\, wit\,
and plenty of holiday cheer — Rowe\, Keller\, Siers\, and Kocher have a
n easy chemistry and know how to make the standards sparkle while still
keeping the swing front and center. Kerrytown Concert House is honored t
 o continue Ellen Rowe’s long-running and much-loved series\, All About t
he Trio. Rowe — an acclaimed jazz pianist\, composer\, and educator — co
mbines her two passions here\, leading a jazz piano trio through concert
s that spotlight an iconic jazz figure or style within the genre. Her ea
sygoing commentary\, paired with demonstrations from trio members and gu
 est musicians\,\n\nMore info: http://kerrytowndistrict.org/all-events/el
