DESCRIPTION:The site of today's Pease District Park was part of the 365-a
 cre Woodlawn homestead owned by former Texas Governor E. M. Pease and hi
 s wife\, Lucadia. Although Governor Pease supported the Union during the
  Civil War\, research has found that at least 37 individuals were direct
 ly enslaved or leased as enslaved labor by the Pease family. This tour r
