SUMMARY:Ashanti O. Alston in Conversation With Mic Crenshaw
DESCRIPTION:One of the enduring legacies of the Black Power Era is the tu
rn by some revolutionaries toward a politics that questioned hierarchica
l leadership\, patriarchy\, and the role of the state in social transfor
mation. This practice came to define a distinct form of anarchism rooted
in the Black experience. Ashanti Omawali Alston helped nurture and defi
ne this turn through his experiences with the Black Panther Party and Bl
ack Liberation Army\, and through social movement activity from the late
1960s to today. Anarchist Panther (AK Press) collects\, for the first t
ime\, his thoughts that have influenced generations of radicals the worl
 d over.\n\nMore info: https://www.powells.com/events/ashanti-o-alston-97
