DESCRIPTION:Brooklyn Maqam is an organization dedicated to presenting Mid
 dle Eastern (in particular\, Arabic) music\, with the goals of expanding
  its audience\, preserving it as an art form\, and building community ce
 ntered around the music. THIS MONTH: ABBAS: Tribute to Mohamed Mounir Ab
 bas is a Cairo-born sound artist whose musical journey was shaped by the
  rich and diverse sounds of North Africa and the Middle East. He brings 
 a multidisciplinary approach to his work as a performer\, with elements 
 of poetry\, theater\, and street performance. This project is celebratin
 g the legendary Nubian/Egyptian musician Mohamed Mounir\, known for his 
 powerful vocals\, poetic lyrics\, infectious grooves\, and unique fusion
  of traditional Egyptian sounds with Nubian influences\, Arabic folk\, r
 ock\, and African rhythms into a vibrant and soulful musical experience.
