SUMMARY:Mason Jennings
DESCRIPTION:Minnesota troubadour Mason Jennings returns performing old fa
vorites and work from his new album “Dark Wings.” “I love song craft\,”
says Mason Jennings\, a folksinger who has spent over two decades honing
his craft both on stage and in the studio. “A song is like a boat on th
e water\, and you’re trying to make it float with as few pieces as possi
ble. If you do it right\, a song can be very healing.” For Jennings\, so
ngwriting has always been about a personal connection\, both with his au
dience and himself. He’s known for an unpretentious\, emotive approach t
o folk music\, combining introspective lyrics with acoustic melodies. Hi
s work has drawn comparisons to genre greats\, including Nick Drake\, Jo
hn Fahey\, and Tom Waits. But Jennings’ sound is distinctly his own\, on
e that blends vulnerability with strength\, simplicity with complexity.
That style comes through on his new record: “Dark Wings.” His 18th studi
o album\, the record finds Jennings moving between raw honesty about chi
ldhood scars\, dark thoughts\, spiritual questioning and a stubborn beli
ef in the power of love. Duluth-based singer-songwriter and bandleader B
reanne Marie of Breanne Marie & The Front Porch Sinners will open with a
