SUMMARY:Ari Melber
DESCRIPTION:April 5\, 2018\, 7:30pm. Ticket\, $20. Buy tickets here. At T
emple Emanuel\, 8844 Burton Way Beverly Hills\, CA 90211. Parking availa
ble on local streets and in the garage under the building. Could it be o
nly this past summer that MSNBC gave Ari Melber his own show called The
Beat with Ari Melber? So much news\, so little time. He has covered a lo
t of ground with us in this brief period\, but we already knew him well
as the Chief Legal Correspondent for NBC and MSNBC. We already respected
him as he subbed for Rachel Maddow\, Chris Hayes and Lawrence O’Donnell
. Watch him weekdays at 3:00pm on MSNBC’s The Beat. What we appreciate i
s that Ari Melber asks questions as a journalist and responds as a lawye
 r. If he senses evasion\, he digs deeper–with the precision of a seasone
d litigator and the skill of a fine reporter. It is not easy to get to t
he bottom of things\; journalists face blockades that enormously impact
citizens seeking information. Melber will speak to the legal and practic
al challenges to free speech in the Trump era. A former First Amendment
lawyer\, he will explore how the President’s approach to the press–inclu
ding a political strategy of emphasizing disputes with reporters and sow
ing confusion over what constitutes factual journalism–poses challenges
for both citizens and reporters alike.\n\nMore info: https://writersbloc
