SUMMARY:The Wood Brothers with support from Amelia Day
DESCRIPTION:Dubbed "masters of soulful folk" by Paste\, The Wood Brothers
formed after brothers Chris and Oliver Wood pursued separate musical ca
reers for 15 years. Chris already had legions of devoted fans for his in
 comparable work as one-third of Medeski Martin & Wood\, while Oliver’s b
and King Johnson built a loyal following in the South. With drummer Jano
Rix added as a permanent third member\, The Wood Brothers have evolved
into one of roots music’s most revered acts\, playing sold out shows acr
oss North America\, garnering a Grammy Award nomination and releasing ni
ne studio albums\, including their forthcoming release\, Puff of Smoke\,
out August 1. Listening\, in its truest sense\, is a dying art\, but it
's one The Wood Brothers are committed to practicing and upholding as a
virtue. In fact\, it's the secret to the mélange of joyful sounds and mu
sical styles on Puff of Smoke\, the American roots trio's ninth album of
original music. Indeed\, through the near two decades spent together in
the studio and on the road\, the GRAMMY Award-nominated trio have honed
their interconnected\, singular voice to telepathic proportions. On thi
s latest studio effort\, a true collaborative effort between its three m
embers\, the songs weave a medley of musical ideas — ranging from Latin-
inflected acoustic guitar lines\, to driving post-jazz rhythms\, to infe
ctious sing along choruses — resulting in a cohesive\, joyful whole. All
with The Wood Brothers' trademark turns of phrase and lighthearted\, bu
t subversively profound wisdom at the core. Puff of Smoke is a reminder
that life is both precious and precarious\, and The Wood Brothers invite
you to enjoy the ride. The Wood Brothers have partnered with American F
riends of Canadian Conservation so that $1 per ticket will support The N
ature Trust of British Columbia (NTBC) in their efforts to conserve ecol
ogically-rich wetlands and protect irreplaceable land from development.
Every $1 donated will be matched by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service w
ith $2 so more endangered wetlands can be saved. If you’d like to learn
