About this event

Join us for an evening of cocktails and classic literature as we dive into the Mother of the Science Fiction genre: Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. We’ll kick things off with a featured speaker sharing expert insight into Frankenstein, Shelley, and the history of the novel's reception, then open the floor for lively, book-club–style conversation. Expect literary deep dives, a little gossip, and plenty of opinions about one of literature’s favorite dystopian tales. What to Expect An engaging introduction to the novel from our featured speaker, Dr. Melanie Zynel Guided, book-club–style discussion Themed mocktails and snacks A copy of Frankenstein to take home for your bookshelf Melanie is an English professor and Jane Austen fanatic with a PhD in British Literature and a long running interest in interrogating what makes a book a "classic." Don't worry though, she's also a huge fan of fantasy, romance, and of course, romantasy, and is equally excited to swap literary gossip, swoon over a morally gray lead, or break down Austen's use of free indirect discourse. $40.00
