About this event
Conversation Series Author and film historian Alicia Malone joins us for a night at the movies in celebration of her new mystery novel, Murder at the Movies. Alicia will talk about this cozy whodunnit, inspired by the Strand, and will introduce a screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s Suspicion (one of many classic films featured in the novel), followed by a book signing. About the book: A movie screening turns fatal when a recent transplant to the small town of Pine Island, Maine discovers a dead body on opening night of the movie palace she’s just inherited. Readers will recognize familiar details of the Strand’s look and history in the novel’s fictional Starlight Movie Palace. “Murder at the Movies will make you want to grab your popcorn and settle in for a mystery packed with old movie lore. . . .A treat for movie lovers!” – Tess Gerritsen, New York Times bestselling author “Veteran film author Malone ventures into fiction without leaving her first love behind in this Maine cozy.”- Kirkus Reviews About the movie: Hitchcock’s psychological thriller starring Joan Fontaine and Cary Grant.
