About this event

Composed about 1717, Vivaldi’s “Magnificat” was written to be performed by members of the Ospedale della Pietà, the girls' orphanage in the Serene Republic of Venice. Mozart’s “Missa Brevis in F,” KV 192, was written for Salzburg Cathedral in June 1774. It is both elegant and expressive. While it is one of the composer’s rarely performed sacred works, it demonstrates his style at the beginning of its maturity.
