About this event

Main Library - Community Room B branch. Charleston County Public Library is proud to partner with the Science Friday podcast to host the Science Friday Book Club! Please join us in person where we will discuss Helen Scales's What the Wild Sea Can Be. The following is a description of the book by the publisher: No matter where we live, “we are all ocean people,” Helen Scales emphatically observes in her bracing yet hopeful exploration of the future of the ocean. Beginning with its fascinating deep history, Scales links past to present to show how the prehistoric ocean ecology was already working in ways similar to the ocean of today. In elegant, evocative prose, she takes readers into the realms of animals that epitomize today’s increasingly challenging conditions. We have unlimited copies of both the ebook and audiobook through Hoopla and several copies of the physical book (while they last). You can find a link to it in our catalog here: https://chcl.ent.sirsi.net/client/en_US/default/search/results?qu=what+the+wild+sea+can+be&qf=AUTHOR%09Author%09Scales%2C+Helen%09Scales%2C+Helen+%7C%7C+Scales%2C+Helen%2C%09Scales%2C+Helen%2C Limited copies of next month's book will be made available to participants of this meeting! This will be our first meeting at our new location at 1142 Morrison Drive. Visit the SciFri website to learn more: https://www.sciencefriday.com/scifri-book-club
