MOTHER RUSSIA

About this event
The Soviet Union is gone. McDonald's is open. And nobody has any idea what comes next. When directionless young Evgeny takes a surveillance job spying on Katya — glamorous, mysterious, and possibly dangerous — he figures it's easy money in a city suddenly drowning in it. He's wrong. Lauren Yee's sharp, offbeat comedy careens through the glittering wreckage of St. Petersburg, 1990s, where capitalism, pop music, and the intoxicating promise of reinvention have scrambled everything — including, it turns out, Evgeny's heart. Mother Russia is a wildly human story about love, identity, and what an entire country looks like when it has to decide, for the first time, who it wants to be. Dates are subject to change.
