About this event

Elkhorn is a cosmic psych-folk duo that seamlessly bridges the worlds of American primitive guitar and free-form improvisation. Formed by childhood friends Jesse Sheppard (12-string acoustic guitar) and Drew Gardner (electric guitar), the project is a fluid dialogue between acoustic tradition and electric exploration. Together, they weave a signature sound where pre-rock roots meet post-rock experimentation, drawing equal inspiration from the fingerstyle patterns of American Primitive guitar and fiery improvisations. Trimbtych is an ensemble dedicated to performing the music of Louis T. Hardin, AKA Moondog . This 20th c. American composer's music creates an unexpected link between the resurgent science of counterpoint, Arapaho, Navajo, Blackfoot, and Sioux rhythms and song forms, jazz improvisation, pagan/Norse themes, and a repetitive minimalistic aesthetic. The ensemble is led by the sole-student of Moondog's protege Stefan Lakatos, trimbist Julian Calv. They perform with various lineups depending on the concert and include background about the composer and music from the director. $20 suggested. Donate online now or in person that night.
