About this event
Are you an educator interested in learning to play mahjong? Are you interested in culturally sustaining pedagogy? Can you imagine a mahjong club for students at your school? Possible Futures, ARTLC, and MahJong Haven are collaborating to offer a special mahjong learning experience for educators. This fall, we'll be offering a FREE series where educators can come together to learn to play mahjong and, if desired, can leave the experience with a FREE mahjong set for their school. This experience will take place over a a few sessions and will teach participants how to play Hong Kong-style mahjong (rather than the increasingly mainstream 'American' mahjong). Simple snacks will be provided! This series promises to be educational and FUN, and will equip educators to start their own mahjong practice and support others in understanding mahjong as an engaging, enriching source of community cultural wealth.
