Naturalist's Notebook: THE GREAT BLACK SWAMP by Patrick Wensink
Calendar
About this event
Join Loganberry and Shaker Lakes Nature Center for our quarterly convention of Naturalist's Notebook! In GREAT BLACK SWAMP, Patrick Wensink tells the story of what was once a highly ecologically-diverse area covering over 300 million acres in NW Ohio and (surrounding states) until it was dredged in the mid to late 1800s. Wensink's writing is part memoir, part history, part ecological reporting, recounting how the Great Black Swamp came to be what it is today and the future it is fighting for in its attempted return to health. The author will join us in-person for this illuminating conversation!
