About this event

Come be part of The Word Barn's monthly old-time jam session! All levels and all instruments are welcome. Bring your banjo, fiddle, guitar, mandolin - or whatever old-time acoustic instrument you have - and spend a few hours playing along with fellow musicians of all skill levels and backgrounds. Held the first Tuesday of every month. On warm evenings, we’ll circle up in the Meadow around the campfire; on cooler evenings, we’ll be cozy inside The Word Barn itself. Don’t play an instrument? Come on over, kick back, and enjoy the tunes! Free admission for all - donations accepted. Registration requested (space is limited - and is DOES fill up). After catching up, sharing a pint (or two), and choosing a key, the music will begin, with a last call for tunes coming around 7:45pm. Sessions are led by uber talented fiddler, Betsy Green. **Please note and watch the calendar - Old-Time Jam session dates are subject to shift from the 3rd Tuesday as needed due to holidays and conflicts. Special thanks to the NH State Council on the Arts. Their support allowed the creation of this program, and supports its continuation. Betsy Green grew up on a farm in central Massachusetts, and was brought up playing country music with her family’s band. Today, she lives in New Hampshire and plays out with The Hazel Project, The Bottom Dollars, The Green Sisters and other combinations. Her music stretches across the entire folk landscape. Old-time, folk, bluegrass, country, and blues music are all represented as the band brings the back porch to the stage. Betsy weaves the contemporary with the traditional to deliver high energy performances.
