About this event

Generative AI is rapidly changing the way we work, learn, communicate, and create. From drafting emails and summarizing information to generating images, analyzing content, and brainstorming ideas, AI tools can provide significant benefits, but they also introduce important risks. In this session, we’ll explore what Generative AI is, how it works, where it can be useful, and what you need to consider before using it. We examine common risks such as inaccurate or “hallucinated” information, privacy concerns, cybersecurity threats, bias, intellectual property and copyright issues, and the potential misuse of AI-generated content. The session will also introduce practical strategies for using Generative AI safely, responsibly, and effectively, including how to protect sensitive information, verify AI-generated content, recognize potential security threats, and maintain appropriate human oversight. Student Attendance: No registration is required. Students are welcome to attend any session that interests them. Simply review the session details and arrive at the scheduled location a few minutes before the start time. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Staff and faculty can access the online training by registering through Workday here.
