Austin Spurs vs. Laketown Squadron
Calendar
About this event
The franchise was founded in 2005 when the Columbus Riverdragons were sold and relocated to Austin, becoming the Austin Toros before rebranding as the Austin Spurs in 2014. Since then, Austin has made 11 playoff appearances and won two championships, first in 2012 as the Toros and again in 2018 as the Spurs. Fourteen players from local tryouts have gone on to make the opening night roster, including Jonathan Simmons, who was one of 53 players in franchise history to receive an NBA call-up — the second-most in the G League. The organization has also produced two NBA G League Coaches of the Year: Quinn Snyder, now head coach of the Atlanta Hawks, and Scott King, currently an assistant coach with San Antonio.
