Poiesis Quartet

About this event

Praised for their “palpable chemistry and remarkable warmth” (San Francisco Classical Voice), the Poiesis Quartet is an internationally acclaimed string quartet redefining contemporary chamber music through collaboration and innovation. Winners of the 2025 Banff International String Quartet Competition First Prize and Commission Prize, as well as top honors from the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and St. Paul String Quartet Competition, the ensemble has quickly emerged as one of the most compelling young voices in classical music. Taking their name from the Greek word poiesis—“to make or create”—the Quartet is dedicated to shaping new musical experiences through premieres, commissions, and interdisciplinary projects. Their performances highlight works by emerging and underrepresented composers while fostering moments of synchronicity, risk, and expressive depth. From acclaimed recordings to ambitious commissioning initiatives like the Oberlin Commission Project, the Poiesis Quartet continues to expand the boundaries of the string quartet tradition with imagination, purpose, and vitality.
