Book talk and interview with Bill Stokes, author of "Ah, the Women!"

Join us at 6 pm in Fabiola's to celebrate the release of longtime Midwest journalist Bill Stokes' novel Ah, the Women! Stokes will be interviewed by longtime friend Doug Moe, and copies of the book will be available for purchase. Ah, the Women! is the story of how a young man’s life is impacted by first love, an unruly dog, obstreperous Uncle Alvin, Lizzie of “Little Hope Church” who doubts the gender of Jesus, and the national movement of women taking over of the world to save it from the machinations of the male libido. This is Stokes’s second novel. The first, Margaret’s War, was set when there were thousands of German POWs in this country at the end of WWII. He has also published a half dozen books comprised of material from his newspaper days. He has won many awards, including the Scripps Howard Ernie Pyle Memorial Award. Stokes credits Ed Gein, the notorious grave-robbing Plainfield murderer, with helping get him his first writing job. He will talk with Moe about this and other writing adventures, as well as thoughts on the current relevance of Ah, the Women! and the women saving a world threatened by libido-driven narcissistic males. Bill Stokes was born in Wisconsin, grew up on a small dairy farm, served three years in the Army, graduated from the University of Wisconsin and wrote for four newspapers (Stevens Point Journal, Wisconsin State Journal, Milwaukee Journal and Chicago Tribune) during his 35-year career.
