Farnsworth Concert Series: Philip Lima

About this event

@ Join the classical song team of baritone Philip Lima and pianist Tudor Bota as they mark the 200th anniversary of Franz Schubert’s masterpiece, Winterreise (Winter Journey) . Widely considered the pinnacle of Romantic-era songwriting, Schubert himself described Winterreise as ‘a cycle of eerie, awe-inspiring songs’ that moved him more than any of his 600 previous vocal works (including his perennial favorite, ‘Ave Maria’). Composed by Schubert in the last year of his short life, Winterreise transcends its narrative of a rejected lover’s snow-bound wanderings with music that explores a “winter of the soul” with icy intensity, touching intimacy, and haunting beauty. The performance features the musical and emotional highlights of Winterreise in the original German with English commentary to guide you through this cathartic, timeless masterpiece. Joint Bio Baritone Philip Lima and pianist Tudor Bota regularly weave their talents together to create a musical whole greater and more beauti
