Manor Mill 2026 Writers Retreat

About this event

Imagine a long weekend devoted entirely to your writing — on a beautiful campus in the rolling hills of northern Baltimore County. Manor Mill's writers retreat takes place at historic Oldfields School in Glencoe, Maryland, and welcomes participants of all level and genres —from new writers to experienced ones, working in fiction, nonfiction, memoir, and poetry. Over the course of the weekend, you'll explore a rich range of topics: craft and technique, querying and submissions, marketing, promotion, and much more. Come for the full Thursday–Sunday residential experience, with dinners and evening activities included — or choose day-only tickets for Friday, Saturday, or both. Day pass guests will enjoy all day sessions & lunch and can add on evening sessions and grab dinner on their own. Overnight guests will enjoy lodging with linens, all meals, all day sessions, all evening programs & additional special activities from Thursday through Sunday. However you join us, you'll find a thoughtfully designed blend of group presentations, personal writing time, critique sessions, and genuine community—and you’ll leave with new skills, new perspective, and new writer friends. What to Expect Get ready for fresh air, a serene valley, and lots of steps! Manor Mill’s overnight retreats take place on the historic Oldfields School, a beautiful campus of gracious buildings nestled amid quiet hills. Like many historic campuses, the school has plentiful stairways and walks along inclined pathways to get from building to building. Guests will do well to pack good walking shoes and plan to be on the move around campus and between buildings throughout your stay. To ensure a comfortable experience, please advise us of any mobility concerns before you register so we may identify the best solutions for your needs.
